still in shock about MCA. that news hit me pretty hard. the Beastie Boys changed my life in high school, but it was never just some sort of phase that I grew out of, because their music has always been fresh and exciting. so tragic that someone who spent his entire life growing and changing and evolving and never gave in to industry or critical pressure, who helped so many people, who influenced and inspired so many people, who (via Grand Royal) gave so many underground artists the most mainstream exposure they'd ever receive, who never lost his sense of humor or his creativity, and who made so much incredible, diverse music that people will be enjoying and discussing until the end of time, had to die so young. i did an all Beasties tribute show on my 3-hour overnight show this past weekend and didn't come close to playing every track i wanted. i guess the last word i have to say is that it can be nice to be alive, and don't any of you ever forget that.
